A graduate!! In April of 2004 I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Certificate in Asian Studies. For the past four years my life has been centered at Pitt, though it revolved mostly around the rocks and trees, mountains and rivers within easy (and not-so-easy) reach of the Oakland campus. In December 2003 I finished my time at the University of Pittsburgh, but I spent my last semester in Chilean Patagonia, studying environmental science, leadership, and natural science in the most practical classrooms Mother Nature ever devised.

My coursework included Spanish, Chinese, Emergency Medicine and CPR, a whole smattering of courses on ancient China, a major's worth of political science classes dealing mostly with international relations, and a variety of interesting general education credits. The biggest influences during my college career were studying in China for more than 5 months over two trips, working in the outdoor industry, and having a hand in the administration of the Pitt Outdoors Club. Outside of the outdoors, my passion is China; I have focused by studies on the Middle Kingdom in many ways. If you are interested as well, read the paper I am most pleased with from my college career: The Chinese Banking Sector and the WTO. (Ed. Note: Looks like I was incorrect, though...China is going strong despite the doom and gloom I had forecast.)

Beyond my degree and certificate, though the the course of my education I have been certified as an EMT in the state of Pennsylvania, a Wilderness First Responder, and a Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor. What I have learned in the mountains could fill many volumes...many of the pivotal trips are recorded elsewhere on this site
